2026 Season | Week 18

And we’re back!

Our two-week vegetable break has allowed us a little catch-up time to get our veggie house in order. And now, we’re back in business. A month ago were close to losing a whole hoop house, which contained ALL of the tomatoes and peppers. Early blight had wreaked havoc on all varieties of these staple summertime crops. This is actually the second time this season that we’ve almost lost all of the tomatoes. Disease spreads very quickly in a tunnel, and the wet/hot conditions we had in late July were perfect! We quickly removed all the plants that were too far gone and then trimmed the ones that we thought might recover. And sure enough, they have!

The next few weeks should continue to get better with bok choy, red cabbage, romaine, and arugula. And with any luck, the tomatoes and peppers should continue.

Shelly brought a recipe to my attention that utilizes our shishito peppers. I’m going to try it this weekend; maybe you can too. Check it out:

Have a good week.
